Music writing.
I started a blog for music recently, an extension of my music column and Twitter account.
Put simply, I needed a place I could post more about music, particularly interviews, reviews and photos. Interrobang is on hiatus through the summer, and OurLondon got overtaken by London Community News. My own music isn’t going anywhere at the moment, so why not check it out?

Keeping my hopes from getting up.
So by a twist of fate, I recently met a local London artist named Ryan McNevin, a keyboardist and songwriter that has performed in a number of bands nearby. Through talking to Ryan, I’ve learned that lately he’s just been producing a lot of different music, potentially for sale to artists on the market.
Looking at his site, I’m impressed with his studio setup. I’m hoping...

Time for an update?
I’ve recently cut open a finger on my left hand, and I’m sadly forced not to play guitar for a little while.
Greg and I have had several interesting jams to date, with a couple of very eclectic musicians. My brother Mikey is still very much in the mix as well, as he and I recently challenged ourselves to write a piece of classical music to be performed entirely on electric guitar.

So patient...
Not that I expect anyone is reading this, but the patience inherent in sticking around between posts is considerable, and impressive.
Greg, Mikey, and I are all still writing, and taking on many projects. I am learning to use the software on my new Mac to do mixes, there are no more excuses.
Here’s to the prospect of musical content. Cheers.

Of recording.
My brother Mikey and I have completed quite a bit of work on a bit of music; in case anyone reading this hasn’t seen my daily blog, Mikey and I have begun some recording. There are several motivating factors, including one huge project behind it (more on that soon), but mostly it is for fun and the collaborative effort. The full story began when he approached me about recording some things...

Recording update. Sort of.
Recording is on a bit of a hiatus, we’ve hit a few snags along the last couple of months that have delayed the process for us. The first (and most problematic at first) is that we were recording and storing everything on Greg’s computer… which is constantly blue-screening. Hard.
It was originally an XP that he had upgraded to Windows Vista, then to Linux (cos let’s face...

Recording, so far.
Day One Our first official day of recording was a few weeks ago, and was interesting in the way a baby discovering its feet is interesting; we got everything working, and recording, but didn’t make a whole lot of ground.
We worked on an untitled song that Greg has been writing, and then worked on this older song of mine titled In Hibernation. I don’t know what made we choose that one...

I know I haven’t written very much on here lately, but I assure you, it isn’t because I haven’t been working on music. I’ve been playing a lot recently with a dear friend, Greg Ilton, who is a formidable bass player. He’s able to play so fluidly, and is something intuitive; no matter what it is I’m playing, even noodling around aimlessly, his ability to pick out...

Coming soon.
Nobody knows about this yet, but inspired by my dearest friend, this is going to be the home of my music as I begin to record and produce it this summer and autumn.
I’ve had little to no luck with recording attempts in the past, and will have a better environment and opportunity available soon.
Also, probably shortly after instilling a kind of Creative Commons, I’ll post pieces in...
